Hi, can anybody tell me how medical exam informations can be sent in a HL7 message?
Is it possible to attach a file containing the medical exam or the informations are sent as text in the message body?

Noumenon, OBX segments (see chapter 7 in HL7 V2.x) are usually used to send patient observations. You can include up to 40-50kb of text in the message (PDF, HMTL, XML, etc format) using the ED datatype OR a pointer to the information using the RP datatype.

Another question. Can anybody specify me a good guide for initiation to HL7. I would like to understand the principles of message creation. Preferably, i'd like information that is free or that is on the internet.
